• A new manager is expected to be contacted soon for Stoke City

In a very difficult time for Stoke City, Steve Schumacher has been dismissed after a rather underwhelming start to the season. Despite making solid progress in the Carabao Cup, the team’s performance and results in the EFL Championship were far from satisfactory.
The team showed a lack of decisiveness and struggled to score, with no clear playing identity. Although direct play seemed to be the most effective way for Stoke City to score, the defeat against Oxford United ultimately led to the situation coming to a head.

President John Coates on Steve Schumacher
Following the dismissal of Steve Schumacher and his entire coaching staff, club president John Coates expressed his gratitude for their efforts. However, he acknowledged that Stoke City has significant long-term projects that need to move forward without Schumacher.
The club is confident that they can continue to build on these projects in the best way possible, but it will be without Steve Schumacher. The defeat against Oxford United made it clear that The Potters were not performing well, leaving both sporting director Jon Walters and president John Coates unsatisfied.
"“Steven, Mark, Chris, Peter and Elliot depart with our thanks for their efforts and with our best wishes for their future careers. We have faith in the squad of players we have assembled and firmly believe they can bring success to Stoke City this season. I continue to be hugely thankful to the Club’s fans for their loyal and passionate support."
- John Coates
They expect more from the team after making important signings and assembling one of the strongest squads in the Championship. Since this wasn’t reflected in the results, the decision to part ways with Steve Schumacher had to be made.
