Stoke City has decided to part ways with Steve Schumacher, who had been working with the team since last season. The dismissal comes after a particularly painful defeat to Oxford United in the EFL Championship, and the poor start to the current season.

Unfortunately, The Potters have only won 2 of their 5 matches in the Championship, scoring very few goals. While the two victories were by narrow margins, the defeats have been significant, leaving Stoke City in a challenging situation.

Steve Schumacher is no longer Stoke City's manager

In the official statement released by the club, Stoke City explained that difficult decisions need to be made in order to ensure the long-term progress of the team. Jon Walters, the sporting director, emphasized this, stating that there is a lot of potential within the squad, particularly with the development of young players who will be the future face of the team.

However, the club cannot afford to start the EFL Championship so poorly, especially after making high-profile signings. The team also boasts one of the best academies in England, with several young players recently representing their countries during the international break, particularly in the youth squads of England and the Netherlands.

"My role as Sporting Director is to make tough decisions that serve the long-term interests of Stoke City. After ongoing discussions with John Coates, we feel the time is right for a change in direction to bring success to the club."

Along with Steve Schumacher, Mark Hughes, Chris Cohen, Peter Cavanagh, and Elliot Turner have also left the club’s coaching staff. Stoke City has expressed its gratitude for their contributions and extended best wishes to them for the future.
