In a new round of the EFL Championship, we witnessed how Eric Bocat unfortunately didn’t have his best game. In this sixth matchday of the Championship, Stoke City hosted Hull City at home.
But to the team’s dismay, Hull City put on an impressive display, dominating possession and creating the best scoring opportunities, overshadowing the debut of Narcís Pelach with Stoke City and marking one of Eric Bocat’s worst performances.

Since joining the team, this has been Eric Bocat’s worst match wearing The Potters' colors
In a crucial moment for Stoke City early in the season, especially in the local championship, they needed to win this match to avoid losing important points. However, the expected result didn’t come, and Narcís Pelach’s side lost 1-3 at the Bet365 Stadium. It was clear from the start that Eric Bocat wasn’t having a good game. He appeared distracted and was outplayed by Hull City’s offense.
The player was on the field for 89 minutes, before being substituted by Enda Stevens for the final stretch. During his time on the pitch, Bocat had only 52 touches, completing 73% of his passes — 22 out of 30. Additionally, he lost possession 13 times, a worryingly high stat for a full-back who should contribute to the team’s ball security.
Moreover, he made a huge mistake when he conceded a penalty in the 63rd minute. Although Viktor Johansson saved the penalty, Hull City scored from the rebound.
It was a tough game for the whole Stoke City team, but especially for Eric Bocat, who was out of sorts on the pitch and made a costly mistake by giving away a penalty. He’ll need to address several issues if he wants to compete at the highest level with Stoke City in the upcoming matches.
