Stoke City's Lack of Clarity in Front of Goal Worries Fans
• Improvement in finishing expected in the coming matches
• Stoke City has talented forwards but lacks confidence in front of goal
By Oscar Cortes
Stoke City continues searching for the right formula to compete effectively in the EFL Championship, as they struggle with a lack of finishing in front of goal. As seen in recent games, the team consistently lacks scoring.
Since Narcís Pelach's arrival, Stoke has managed to score only 12 goals in eight matches. Notably, they scored six of these goals in one game, their sole victory under Pelach on October 2 against Portsmouth. This trend is concerning, as in other matches, the team has shown a particularly weak performance, leaving a negative impression on the pitch. They will keep working on improving their finishing, as this season’s goal-scoring record is far from ideal.

A Difficult Moment for Stoke City in the EFL Championship
Currently, Stoke City sits 19th in the standings after 12 games this season, with only 12 points—essentially averaging one point per game. This poor form includes six losses, three draws, and three wins, leaving much to be desired.
Pelach was brought in to reinvigorate the work previously done by Steven Schumacher, with hopes he could elevate the team. Unfortunately, so far, no significant improvement has been seen on the pitch, and training sessions don’t appear to be yielding effective results.
Stoke has scored only 13 goals in the EFL Championship while conceding 17, giving them a goal difference of -4. Improvement is essential in their next game against Derby County, where they need to be more clinical in front of goal.
With impactful players like Tom Cannon, Million Manhoef, Bae Jun-Ho, Emre Tezgel, and Lewis Koumas, Stoke has a talented young offensive lineup. Fostering a competitive mentality with these players could help them reach their full potential and achieve better results for Stoke City. All eyes will be on the November 2 game against Derby County at the Bet365 Stadium, a crucial and highly competitive match for Pelach's squad.
