Stoke City has been actively seeking to sign players who will bring motivation and competitiveness to Steve Schumacher’s squad for the upcoming season.

Although there were discussions about various potential returns and players who had previously worn the club's jersey, it was rumored that Stoke City was negotiating the return of this English player. However, it seems Sheffield United is now a step ahead.

Tyrese Campbell Currently Without a Team

The 24-year-old forward is currently without a club after finishing his contract with Stoke City in January 2024. Having spent his entire career at The Potters, Campbell developed as a professional player, progressing through the Stoke City U18 and U21 teams to reach the first team.

During his time at Stoke City, he played 174 matches, scoring 36 goals and providing 21 assists. However, an agreement was not reached for his continued stay. In recent weeks, Stoke City reportedly made an offer to Campbell for a return, but rumors suggest that Sheffield United has moved ahead in the pursuit of the forward. Campbell is reportedly waiting for a more enticing contract offer to join Sheffield United, as both Swansea City and Stoke City had also made offers for him.

It appears Sheffield United will win the race for this forward. After spending over 7 years at Stoke City, Campbell will face a new chapter and wear the colors of a different team.

There is still plenty of time in this transfer window, and Steve Schumacher remains focused on strengthening the squad. While it is uncertain which position will be prioritized, the need for a forward may no longer be a priority following the signing of Sam Gallagher. We might soon see a new addition to the midfield instead.
