Four Goals for Tom Cannon Against Portsmouth
The player, who arrived during the transfer window on loan from Leicester City, delivered a near-perfect match. Narcís Pelach selected Cannon to start as the team's central striker, and he showcased his incredible talent and potential. At just 21 years old, Cannon scored four goals for Stoke City—two in the first half and another two in the second—securing a fantastic haul that demonstrated his quality as a player for The Potters.
Cannon’s stats were impressive. He had four shots on target, all of which found the back of the net, and two more shots off target. Despite having only 30 touches during the game—a relatively low number—he made the most of them, scoring four goals.
He also completed 13 of his 16 attempted passes, achieving an 81% pass accuracy rate, proving his effectiveness as a playmaker. Additionally, he won seven of the 11 duels he contested, a remarkable statistic that underscores his importance to Stoke City.
Cannon is now expected to be the breakout star for Stoke City this season, something the team and coach Narcís Pelach desperately need after a challenging start to the season. Stoke City will now prepare to face Swansea City on October 5 in the EFL Championship 2024.
