After the double round of international fixtures, we saw several players deliver fantastic performances while representing their countries. However, there were also players who did not meet the expected results with their national teams.

This includes Jordan Thompson, who, despite being called up for Northern Ireland, did not get a chance to play. A similar situation happened with the young Stoke City talent, who was also called up but did not feature in either of his country's two matches.

Lewis Koumas Did Not Get Minutes with the Welsh National Team

The 18-year-old footballer received a very important call-up from his country, Wales. Koumas has been performing exceptionally well this season after moving from Liverpool to Stoke City. He is considered a fantastic talent with high expectations for his future.

Unfortunately, he did not get any playing time during this FIFA international break, where Wales competed in two crucial matches for the UEFA Nations League. Lewis Koumas watched from the bench as Wales faced Iceland and Montenegro in League B of the competition.

Wales played two very competitive matches in this Nations League window. In the first game against Iceland, Wales drew 2-2 in a match that was quite complicated for them. Despite leading 2-0 at halftime, they allowed Iceland to equalize in the second half. It could have been beneficial to have a player like Lewis Koumas to help bolster the attack and possibly close out the game.

In the second match, played on October 14th, Wales secured a victory against Montenegro in a game they largely dominated. They won thanks to a penalty converted by Harry Wilson. However, as in the previous game, Lewis Koumas remained unused by the Welsh coach.

This is surprising, considering the player has been in a great stretch of form with Stoke City, earning significant minutes under his belt. Under the guidance of manager Narcis Pelach, Stoke City has been focusing on developing young talent to deliver top-level performances now while also setting a strong foundation for the future.
