Liam Delap Recalled by Manchester City & Loaned to PNE
Stoke City have been a Championship side that has been inconsistent when it comes to scoring goals. This can be seen by the 28 goals scored so far this season from The Potters — Which places Stoke City just below the middle of the table when it comes to finding the back of the net.
Instead of that number possibly improving over the second half of the season though, it could be instead getting even tougher depending on what happens in the January transfer window — As per multiple media reports, striker Liam Delap is on his way back to Manchester City and will soon be in uniform for Preston North End.
Liam Delap on the Move From Stoke City
Per media reports, Manchester City has recalled Liam Delap from his loan stint at Stoke City and has now sent Delap on loan to Preston North End.
With this news on Thursday, it could mean even more trouble for Stoke City’s goal scoring problems this year.
Although Liam Delap has only scored three goals this season so far, that number still represents being good enough to be tied for third on the team. Moreover, Delap’s xG (expected goals) continues to be the second best on the team with 4.2 xG, per FBref.
Again just like actual goals scored, 4.2 expected goals isn’t a massive number. But it’s still one of the best numbers Stoke City have had to work with this year. If you take away Delap’s xG numbers, the only Stoke City player above 4 xG is Jacob Brown.
