Over the past few weeks since the Championship restart after the World Cup, Stoke City have been without a few key players due to injury — Those players being forward Dwight Gayle, midfielder Josh Laurent, and wing-back/fullback Dujon Sterling.
The good news though for Stoke City, is when the club takes to the pitch on Friday against league leading Burnley, The Potters may have at least one of those players back with the team.
On Thursday as a part of his pre-Burnley press conference, manager Alex Neil was asked about the status of Josh Laurent and/or Dwight Gayle going into Friday’s match:
“The two lads (Laurent & Gayle) you just mentioned aren’t far away at all. Tomorrow, one of them may well be involved, in terms of the squad. But both of them I expect to be back in the next week or so.”
As for Dujon Sterling, unfortunately for Stoke City it appears the team could be without the Chelsea loanee for at least another couple of weeks — Here was Neil’s response when asked about the status of Sterling going into this week:
“He’ll (Sterling) probably be a little bit longer.”
Coming off of a draw last week against Rotherham United, Stoke City will end their 2022 at home against Burnley — Keep it here on “All Stoked Up” for additional coverage going into Friday’s match.
