Over the past month a ton of young-talented players from around the world were on display at the World Cup. In the case of some of those young players, many of them caught the eyes of other clubs’ from around the world as well — Including Stoke City’s own Harry Souttar.

Australia at the World Cup this year didn’t make it as far in the tournament as some underdogs, such as Morocco. But, Australia still opened a lot of eyes by advancing to the round of 16 for the second time in their nation’s history. And a big part of that run for Australia, was Potters Center-back Harry Souttar catching the eyes of scouts once again.

Whether it be Souttar’s aerial ability, his hard crunching tackles throughout the tournament, or even just his natural given size of being six-foot-six, Souttar has now churned up even more interest from scouts after the World Cup.

And with some of the latest transfer rumors from around the Premier League, Stoke City may need to come to terms with the departure of Souttar sooner, rather than later.

Will Souttar Be Playing in the Premier League in January?

Per the Dail Mail, Everton and Tottenham are among two clubs who have been interested in signing Harry Souttar. To add to that interest as well, in the same piece, the Dail Mail notes that Souttar was on both clubs’ radars before his injury last year.

Now, there’s always a chance that teams want to see a player coming off of an injury like Souttar to play more matches before bringing them in on a transfer. But overall what a report like the above says, is that teams interest in a player had already peaked.

Meaning, Tottenham and Everton most likely had already made their minds up on pursuing Harry Souttar. The only thing that derailed that interest was Souttar’s ACL injury — You now add in Souttar’s latest World Cup stint and both clubs for sure will be breaking down the door soon.

Again, will that happen before January’s transfer window closes? Maybe not. Both clubs may want to see how Souttar’s body reacts to the second-half of the season’s Championship action.

However, with such a big stage like the World Cup, there’s bound to be other teams now hot on the scent of Souttar’s talent. So Tottenham and specifically Everton (Everton are in a relegation fight again this year), may be looking to seal a transfer for Souttar within the next month instead of waiting.

Because of that heavy interest, Stoke City will most likely be forced into selling Souttar sooner than they prefer to (The Potters don’t want to miss out on a good transfer fee). And will have to start coming to terms with life at the club with Souttar in the Premier League in 2023, and beyond.
