Stoke City’s U21’s grabbed a point on Tuesday after drawing 1-1 with Wrexham FC’s U21’s. The draw marked the first positive result for Stoke City’s U21 squad in this season’s Central League Cup. Previously, Stoke City’s U21s fell 1-0 to Preston North End’s reserves earlier this year in the club’s only match of the tournament before Tuesday.

A couple of recent U21 regulars were absent from the contest, as Tom sparrow and Emre Tezgel didn’t feature on Tuesday. Even without Tezgel and Sparrow though, Stoke City’s U21 team had enough to draw against Wrexham.

Wrexham FC forward Dan Jones scored the game’s only goal for The Red Dragons in the first half of the match. But Stoke City would equalize late in the match when Dara McGuinness buried a Stoke City rebound off-of-the-post at the death.

What’s Next for Stoke City’s U21 Team?

Tuesday’s positive result adds to a recent trend of positive results for Stoke City’s U21’s. Since October 27th, Stoke City’s reserves have won two matches, drawn two matches and have only lost one match.

Next up for the U21’s, they’ll be in action Monday, November 28th against Burnley’s U21 squad. After that, the team will play Swansea City’s reserves on Friday, December 2nd and then be next in action in the Central League Cup on December 6th against Wigan Athletic.
