After an unexpected Stoke City win over Arsenal, former Liverpool great Steven Gerrard tears Gunner playmaker Ozil apart.

Most Stoke fans (including me) are still celebrating a wonderful performance against Arsenal on Saturday. On the other side of that, Arsenal fans are still furious not only over some penalty and offside calls that should have gone their way, but they are also unhappy with their team’s overall performance.

One person especially, who isn’t even an Arsenal fan (which probably makes this better for us), tears Mesut Ozil a new one, saying that the team was ineffective against Stoke because of him. That person, of course, is Steven Gerrard and he told BT Sport exactly how he felt:

"He’s left me frustrated – we’ve seen him on his day when he fancies doing both sides of the game he is a world-class talent.I just worry about his reaction and body language – when the ball is turned over he offers his team-mates zero. Away from home he’s a liability – he just doesn’t do enough."

"It’s clear to see that out of possession he doesn’t want to know – he only wants to be on the ball, trying to create and making things happen. But world class players do both – when they lose possession they put a shift in for their team-mates and it was clear that didn’t happen.Arsene Wenger has got to address it as out of possession you’re a man down."

Personally, this makes me happy after watching Ozil struggle to really do anything against a very impressive Zouma on the left side of Arsenal’s attack and then just give up so easily once the ball was lost.

Now if Stoke can keep making opposing teams and fans frustrated like they did on Saturday, I will be a happy camper, to say the least.
