For those that read my article on Ryan you know I am a massive fan. For those that didn’t you can read it at Stoke City’s Ryan Sweeney: worth every penny? After @dgarza42 recent Update on Stoke City’s Loaned Players I decided to have a closer look at Ryan’s loan with Bristol Rovers.

Fans favorite already?

With only 11 appearances for Bristol Rovers it hasn’t taken long for the Gas faithful to adopt him as one of their own. Twitter is full of praise for the young starlet.

It’s clear to see that a permanent deal is desired by the Rovers fans and its not hard to see why.

Rovers had let in 10 goals in 4 games before Ryan made his debut. So far with him in the side  they have conceded 8 in 11 and kept 5 clean sheets.

Not only are the fans raving about the lad, his team mates are joining in. Midfielder Ollie Clarke had this to say about him speaking to The Sentinel back in February.

"We always pride ourselves working hard and keeping the spine strong, not letting anything go through the middle of us. We went through a spell of conceding easy goals but it looks like we’ve managed to block that at the minute because the big man Sweeney has been a revelation, winning headers. It’s something we haven’t necessarily had, a defender like that who wins everything in the air, clearing balls and taking the pressure away from us."

Ryan’s Stats

Summary

Ryan has made a tremendous start and confirmed that he is a leader and that Stoke were right to snap him up when they did. He needs game time, which makes the loan ideal. Playing in a league above what he has previously and he is still shining. I really don’t think it will be long before he shows The Premier League what he has to offer.
