You can add yet another name to Stoke City’s possible transfer list this January — As per multiple media reports, Stoke City could be eyeing Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt in the upcoming weeks.
Gelhardt, aged 20, could be seen as a loan option the rest of the season for Stoke City. These latest reports about Gelhardt as an option for The Potters, comes just weeks after the Manchester City loanee Liam Delap was called back from Stoke City and loaned back out to Preston North End.
Per the same media reports as well, Stoke City aren’t the only club in the Championship vying for Gelhardt’s services until the Summer — Among those teams that could be also trying to negotiate a deal for Joe Gelhardt, are the Blackburn Rovers.
Gelhardt in recent weeks for Leeds United, has become somewhat expendable for the rest of the season after the club signed Georginio Rutter from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim — Gelhardt so far this season for Leeds has featured in 15 matches, but has only started one of those games.
If Stoke City do end up completing a move for Gelhardt, it would be another boost for Alex Neil’s team in the second half of the season — The Potters as of right now have scored just 29 goals this season, which is sixth worst in the Championship.
