Ryan Woods on the verge of loan move to Milwall?

Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods is reportedly on the verge of securing a loan move to Milwall until the end of the season.

According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Woods has been in talks with the South London club and is expected to join on loan shortly. Woods was signed for Stoke by former manager Gary Rowett, who is now the head coach of Milwall.

Woods impressed for Brentford prior to arriving at the bet365 Stadium, but has struggled under both Nathan Jones and Michael O’Neill. The central midfielder has made just eight Championship appearances this term and has featured just twice since November.

Since O’Neill joined the club, he has preferred Nick Powell, Joe Allen and Sam Clucas in midfield, with Jordan Cousins also seeing regular action. However, Stoke have also let midfielders Peter Etebo and Badou Ndiaye leave on loan this month.

The former Northern Ireland boss has hinted that Stoke might look to dip into the loan market this month. Tyrese Campbell and Joe Allen have been linked with moves away this month, but the club seem determined to keep them, although Campbell is yet to sign a new deal.

In other news, England youth international goalkeeper Joe Bursik has signed a long-term deal with the club. Bursik impressed during a loan spell with Accrington Stanley and has now committed his future to the Potters until 2023.
