Stoke City have all to gain if they win against Derby County but they should they lose, their promotion hopes seem over. With that lets look, the eleven players likely to take to the field for Stoke City.
Goalkeeper- Jack Butland
Conceded two goals in his last match against QPR but through no fault of his own as Butland was let down by his defenders, a key recurring theme this season for Stoke City. With only Adam Federici on the bench, Butland is guaranteed a start.
Defenders- Edwards, Martins Indi, Shawcross, Williams
Gary Rowett will probably use the same back four for the Derby County clash, with not exactly a lot of better options on the bench, Tom Edwards was impressive against QPR and is fast becoming a weapon with his crosses. Bruno Martins Indi may have been at fault for QPR’s second goal but he will almost certainly start due to Erik Pieters being out with injury and a dearth of left-backs at Stoke City. Ryan Shawcross had a strange match last time out, making some mistakes before making some superb challenges to get himself out of trouble while Ashley Williams should partner Shawcross in defence.
Midfield- McClean, Ince, Allen, Woods, Clucas
Sam Clucas was impressive in his full debut for Stoke City and should warrant a start again. Joe Allen has played everyone of Stoke City’s matches in the Championship and that should continue again. Tom Ince was the key creator against QPR and Rowett will hope Ince produces the same fine performance against Derby.
Sadio Berahino will start after getting a goal last time out and generally looking much more like a goal threat then Benik Afobe.
